31/5/10 : Affordable Art Fair

Organ Art

Our next few gigs are acoustic - we're playing a show on BalconyTV.com on Monday 7th and then at the opening night of the Affordable Art Fair at the Harvest Cafe. We're going to play some acoustic versions of our favorites as well as try out some new songs.

We've been busy with our debut EP too - 'Waves Freeze To Rolling Hills' will be released on August 2nd on our own label - Two Six Heave. We're really pleased with it - and Toby our glockenspiel player has created some stunning cover art too...

20/4/10 : Between Two Waves

Between Two Waves

Between Two Waves - a free indie compilation of 38 songs on 3 volumes - is now available, the fourth compilation project from the EardrumsPop label "a non-profit project from music lovers to music lovers." Our track 'Disappear' features on Volume 1 - a collaboration between us and our friends We Walk On Ice.

We're really proud to be a part of this project - recording the song was a lot of fun and it was great to sing with Ida again. Thanks loads to Leena and the Eardrums guys for inviting us and doing all the work for free!

Download the whole compilation for free from here - we are track 8. You can also listen to our track on our myspace page (and soon on last.fm).

13/4/10 : Recording an EP!

We're please to announce that our first EP is on the way! It will contain four tracks - 'Only Forward', 'The Elephant Of Castlebar Hill' and new mixes of 'Oh Sally' and 'Secret Steps' and is released on August 2nd on our own label - Two Six Heave. More details soon!

Also, the 'Between Two Waves' compilation featuring our recording of 'Disappear' is due for release in about a week - it should be worth the wait.

Toby's away in Japan at the moment, but our next gig will be Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May when he's back, for the 'No One Died' all-dayer at The Old Queens Head, Islington.

1/3/10 : Easter weekend

Lock Tavern Flyer

Over Easter weekend we're heading over to 'No' Recording studios in Southend to spend some time recording two new tracks - 'The Elephant Of Castlebar Hill' and 'Only Forward'. As an added bonus, the recording studio is on a farm...

Also over the bank holiday weekend we have a midnight gig at Wonderland Festival's London party and then at the start of April an acoustic gig supporting David Tattersall of The Wave Pictures.

The facebook page for this event can be found here.

1/3/10 : Is it Spring yet?

Our collaboration song with We Walk On Ice for the "Between Two Waves" project from Eardrums Pop is recorded, mixed and mastered and ready for the mid-March release date... can't wait to let you all hear it. It was really good fun to record and great to work with Ida from We Walk On Ice again, she has a beautiful voice.

Lots of good gigs this month for The Lost Cavalry - including White Heat on Tuesday the 16th and The Windmill in Brixton on Thursday the 18th. x

3/2/10 : Things In The Pipeline

We're working on a few things at the moment! Firstly, we're excited to announce that we are now a 5-piece! From our next gig we will be joined by new recruit Toby on various instruments such as glockenspiel, melodica and guitar! Toby's a great illustrator too - check out his work here: www.tobyatkins.co.uk.

We've also been working on new songs including a collaboration with We Walk On Ice for the "Between Two Waves" project from Eardrums Pop. We're recording a song called 'Disappear', the compilation is out in March and will be a free download.

Other stuff - our White Light gig on the 12th Feb has been moved to March, more details coming soon. We've also got some other gigs to announce soon (mainly south of the river for some reason!). Oh - and I bought a new concertina! Whoop! :-)

13/12/09 : Stop The Lost Cavalry

Polaroid Christmas compilation

Most Christmas songs are fairly terrible but there's a few that stand out as being great - 'I Believe In Father Christmas' by Six By Seven is great and 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses is good too. But by far the best one (thought admittedly not originally a Christmas song) is 'Stop The Cavalry' by Lona Lewie. So when we were asked to record a song for Polaroid's 'A Polaroid For Christmas' compilation there was no contest - and of course the name was an added bonus...

We recorded the track at home in London over the last couple of weeks and somehow the neighbours didn't complain - hope you like it, you can download it from polaroid.blogspot.com now, along with the other tracks on the compilation by people like The School, His Clancyness and Electric Assembly, as a totally free Christmas present. Happy Christmas! x

1/12/09 : Goo Nite Christmas gig!

Christmas is coming and so is our Christmas gig on the 10th at the Wilmington Arms for Goo Nite. I promise to have fairly lights on my Uke. Support is from Bleeding Heart Narrative, Quinta and We Walk On Ice... Thursday 10th Dec at the Wilmington Arms, 69 Rosebery Avenue, doors 7:30pm/£5. Here's the facebook link and here's a flyer.

Our Christmas recording is going well... very well, we're excited, can't wait to release it into the world... 13th December is the date!

20/11/09 : Live and Alive

Hi! I have some good gigs coming up before Christmas with The Lost Cavalry... Thursday 26th Nov in Brixton supporting the brilliant Jonquil - that's going to be a top night. Then Monday 30th in Camden playing with our friends Marcel for their EP launch party, and then in December our Christmas gig on the 10th at the Wilmington Arms... we've been working on a few new songs and are hoping to play a couple then. One is based on this short film.

We've also been recording a Christmas cover song for the Italian music blog Polaroid's next compilation. I'm not going to tell you what the cover is, but if you take a guess you will probably be right ;-)

And finally, if anyone fancies a night out dancing and then come to the Wonderland Unbirthday Party this Saturday (21st) at Jacks, London Bridge where I will be staying up late and DJing 'chilled out grooves for worn down shoes' from 5am.
