3/2/10 : Things In The Pipeline

We're working on a few things at the moment! Firstly, we're excited to announce that we are now a 5-piece! From our next gig we will be joined by new recruit Toby on various instruments such as glockenspiel, melodica and guitar! Toby's a great illustrator too - check out his work here: www.tobyatkins.co.uk.

We've also been working on new songs including a collaboration with We Walk On Ice for the "Between Two Waves" project from Eardrums Pop. We're recording a song called 'Disappear', the compilation is out in March and will be a free download.

Other stuff - our White Light gig on the 12th Feb has been moved to March, more details coming soon. We've also got some other gigs to announce soon (mainly south of the river for some reason!). Oh - and I bought a new concertina! Whoop! :-)

13/12/09 : Stop The Lost Cavalry

Polaroid Christmas compilation

Most Christmas songs are fairly terrible but there's a few that stand out as being great - 'I Believe In Father Christmas' by Six By Seven is great and 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses is good too. But by far the best one (thought admittedly not originally a Christmas song) is 'Stop The Cavalry' by Lona Lewie. So when we were asked to record a song for Polaroid's 'A Polaroid For Christmas' compilation there was no contest - and of course the name was an added bonus...

We recorded the track at home in London over the last couple of weeks and somehow the neighbours didn't complain - hope you like it, you can download it from polaroid.blogspot.com now, along with the other tracks on the compilation by people like The School, His Clancyness and Electric Assembly, as a totally free Christmas present. Happy Christmas! x

1/12/09 : Goo Nite Christmas gig!

Christmas is coming and so is our Christmas gig on the 10th at the Wilmington Arms for Goo Nite. I promise to have fairly lights on my Uke. Support is from Bleeding Heart Narrative, Quinta and We Walk On Ice... Thursday 10th Dec at the Wilmington Arms, 69 Rosebery Avenue, doors 7:30pm/£5. Here's the facebook link and here's a flyer.

Our Christmas recording is going well... very well, we're excited, can't wait to release it into the world... 13th December is the date!

20/11/09 : Live and Alive

Hi! I have some good gigs coming up before Christmas with The Lost Cavalry... Thursday 26th Nov in Brixton supporting the brilliant Jonquil - that's going to be a top night. Then Monday 30th in Camden playing with our friends Marcel for their EP launch party, and then in December our Christmas gig on the 10th at the Wilmington Arms... we've been working on a few new songs and are hoping to play a couple then. One is based on this short film.

We've also been recording a Christmas cover song for the Italian music blog Polaroid's next compilation. I'm not going to tell you what the cover is, but if you take a guess you will probably be right ;-)

And finally, if anyone fancies a night out dancing and then come to the Wonderland Unbirthday Party this Saturday (21st) at Jacks, London Bridge where I will be staying up late and DJing 'chilled out grooves for worn down shoes' from 5am.

28/10/09 : The Elephant - In the living room

Here's a little film of us performing our song 'The Elephant' in my old living room in West London...

Thanks to Bryan of BON for filming it.

13/10/09 : Basement Scam and Beyond Retro instore

Basement Scam

We're playing at the Fortuna Pop! night 'Basement Scam' at the Buffalo Bar, Islington on the 23rd - we'll be on last at 11:30pm, so prepare yourself for a late night! We promise to be finished before the last tube though... Also playing are: The Silver Adbuction + Samson & Delilah + 5 Cent Theatre + The Notebook. Tickets at: www.wegottickets.com

AND! As if that wasn't enough, that same day we'll be squeezing in an acoustic instore at Beyond Retro for their Haloween party - so you can come see us play twice in one day. We'll be playing at about 7:45pm before heading up to the Buffalo Bar. x

5/10/09 : Royal Cafe invites: The Lost Cavalry, performing live and acoustic

A few weeks ago filmmaker Bryan O'Neil recorded us performing some of our songs acoustically in my front room in Ealing, West London. If you're extra observant you may recognise the room from the video I made a while ago for Fanfarlo's 'Outsiders' :-)

Here's a couple of the videos from the session that we recorded especially for Portuguese music site the Royal Cafe, of 'Oh Sally' and 'Secret Steps'... royalcafe.wordpress.com/2009/10/03/royal-cafe-convida-the-lost-cavalry/

Enjoy! More to come at a later date! x

16/9/09 : Recordings, videos and gigs

No One Died: Enterprise, Camden

On Saturday 3rd Oct we're playing at Enterprise in Camden, supporting Joana And The Wolf - I think you should be there... You can buy tickets here.

We've been working away like musical devils the last few weeks and are almost ready to present the fruits of our demonic labours... three tracks recorded by ourselves and producer Paul Jones.. "Oh Sally", "Secret Steps" and "Up For Air". They are sounding evil. We've also been filmed playing some songs acoustically by filmmaker Bryan O'Neil recently and these are almost ready too, you'll be able to see our ugly faces soon.

09/9/09 : Offline Club this Thursday

Offline Club

We're playing a free gig at Dogstar, Briton this week for Offline Club... Here what they have written about us: "A new project by Mark West, the former guitarist from Fanfarlo, we've been loving the beautiful indie/folk sounds of this great new band."

And also Mark will be DJing at The Wonderland 3rd Birthday Party on Friday 18th September, at Jacks club, Crucifix Lane, SE1, London.

6/7/09 : Flow Machines - We Are Starlight EP

The Flow Machines remix EP 'We Are Starlight' is released today exclusively via digital download.

The EP features a version of 'Mio & Mao' remixed by The Lost Cavalry (that's us folks!) as well as remixes by people like Martin Carr, Akira The Don and Cian from Super Furry Animals.

We remixed the track last month, taking the original track (from the 'Every Last Drop' album) and adding ukulele, concertina and echoey guitar to make the track more atmospheric without loosing the catchy and upbeat melodies.

You can get the EP by going to www.flowmachines.com/we-are-starlight/ and then also visiting www.twitter.com/flowmachines and spreading the word...
